Radio New Cahokia

WZKP • 2067 • BROADCASTING ACROSS TIME

When Aurora discovers a device that lets her broadcast across time, she uses community radio to send a signal of hope to anyone who can hear—before collapse becomes inevitable.

The Story

On her birthday, Aurora receives a mysterious communication that leads her to the ruins of the old city. There, she finds a device that allows her to communicate across time itself. Now she broadcasts WZKP—her community radio station—to anyone, anywhere, anywhen who can hear it, in an attempt to prevent or ameliorate the post-collapse world she's inherited.

A hopepunk musical audio drama that asks: what if the most radical act of resistance was connection?

Creator

Conor Nolan-Finkel has been writing and performing since their teens. Their grandfather spent his entire career in public radio, giving Conor a behind-the-scenes look at institutions like MPR and WWOZ. That early love of public media—including the kids shows—carried through into Radio New Cahokia.

Working across stage, film sets, recording booths, and restaurants, Conor learned how rewarding work makes for good teams, and vice versa. All of this provided the seed to crystallize a futuristic radio station: WZKP, supported by listeners like you. Sending the signal wherever it will carry.
